My journey to becoming a psychologist started with my own nervous system in crisis.
In 2020, a sudden spinal injury left me partially paralysed. Beyond the physical challenges, I was deeply struck by the emotional experience: the panic, helplessness, and confronting reality of my body’s stress response. This lived experience—not theory—sparked my commitment to trauma-informed, nervous system-aware therapy. Previously trained in clinical hypnosis (since 2019), I had always been intrigued by how memory, imagination, and language can influence physical wellbeing. But it was through my own rehabilitation journey that these concepts moved from curiosity to essential practice, shaping the integrative approach I now offer to clients.
As a Provisional Psychologist registered with AHPRA, I practise under general supervision while completing a Master of Neuroscience, further grounding my work in the neurobiological underpinnings of emotional health. Formally trained in EMDR and Clinical Hypnosis (and soon IFS), I’m practicing at Clarity Consultants, emphasising trauma-informed therapy centred on safe memory processing and nervous system regulation. I utilise standard EMDR Protocol (EMDR Institute) and the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) framework and integrate methods from other modalities where and when clinically appropriate.
I also bring experience in disability services. I maintain professional ties with and can highly recommend Connect and Thrive — a specialist practice known for its expertise in behaviour support, complex disability presentations, risk management, and equine-assisted therapy.
My clinical approach is grounded in the work of the world’s foremost thinkers in trauma and transformation—Bessel van der Kolk, Stephen Porges, Peter Levine, Gabor Maté, Dan Siegel, Francine Shapiro, and Michael Yapko. Their insights affirm my conviction that trauma is not simply a psychological wound, but a whole-body imprint that demands integration of memory, emotion, awareness, and physiology.
I use the EMDR standard protocol as my primary framework, recognising its capacity to create deep and lasting change. Yet complex presentations often require more than one pathway of access. In these contexts, I integrate complementary approaches—hypnosis, vagal toning, Internal Family Systems, somatic psychotherapy, yoga-based regulation, mindfulness, and psychoeducation. These modalities share a common foundation with EMDR: working beyond cognition to reach the body, memory, and emotion. When consciously integrated, they provide multiple doorways into healing, enabling clients to find embodied safety and sustain long-term transformation.
My research degree in Biochemistry anchors me in evidence-based science and systemic analysis, while my clinical practice reminds me daily that true healing is never just data-driven. It requires presence, attunement, careful pacing, and above all, the courage to build authentic connection and trust.
Come meet me.
