My journey to becoming a psychologist started with my own nervous system in crisis.
In 2020, a sudden spinal injury left me partially paralysed. Beyond the physical challenges, I was deeply struck by the emotional experience: the panic, helplessness, and confronting reality of my body’s stress response. This lived experience—not theory—sparked my commitment to trauma-informed, nervous system-aware therapy. Previously trained in clinical hypnosis (since 2019), I had always been intrigued by how memory, imagination, and language can influence physical wellbeing. But it was through my own rehabilitation journey that these concepts moved from curiosity to essential practice, shaping the integrative approach I now offer to clients.
As a Provisional Psychologist registered with AHPRA, I practise under supervision while completing a Master of Neuroscience, further grounding my work in the neurobiological underpinnings of emotional health. Formally trained in EMDR and Clinical Hypnosis, I’m guided by experienced EMDR psychologist Janine McEvoy, emphasising trauma-informed therapy centred on safe memory processing and nervous system regulation.
I also receive clinical supervision from Dr Liz Adams, whose extensive expertise in counselling psychology, couples reconciliation, schema therapy, and compassion-focused care enriches my therapeutic practice. Under her mentorship, I continue to broaden my integration of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), parts work, mindfulness, and somatic awareness.
Occasionally, our supervision sessions include Molly—Liz’s loyal therapy dog. Molly has patiently (and perhaps with some personal sacrifice) offered soothing support to even the most heightened clients through her calm presence and soulful gaze. She’s an unofficial expert in nervous system regulation.
I also bring experience in disability services. I maintain professional ties with and highly recommend Connect and Thrive — a specialist practice known for its expertise in behaviour support, complex disability presentations, risk management, and equine-assisted therapy.
My clinical approach draws deeply from leaders in trauma recovery, emotional regulation and state change, including Bessel van der Kolk, Stephen Porges, Peter Levine, Gabor Maté, Dan Siegel and Michael Yapko. These pioneers reinforce my view of trauma as not merely psychological, but as a whole-body experience demanding integration of memory, emotion, awareness and physical sensations.
To support clients effectively, I weave principles from Polyvagal Theory, Internal Family Systems (IFS), mindfulness, yoga-informed regulative principles, psychoeducation, and tailored cognitive-behavioural strategies into my EMDR and hypnosis work.
My Honours degree in Biochemistry reinforces my respect for evidence-based approaches and systemic thinking. Yet therapeutic success isn’t only about data—it’s about presence, careful pacing, genuine connection, and building trust.
